10 Tips For a Healthier 2019

The beginning of a new year heralds a lot of resolutions, and one of them has to do with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Some people want to eat better, some desire to lose weight while others want to remain healthy. Each of these goals, if they are in your to-do list for this time of the year is achievable, if you know how to go about it. However, you need to be very specific about your health maintenance goals if you hope to see any significant results. This article highlights ten tips for staying healthy in 2019:

1. Start with Meal Prepping

Your body needs a balanced and healthy intake of minerals, fiber, vitamins, carbohydrates, and fats. You can get all these via fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats.

Meal prepping is one of the ways you can imbibe in your day-to-day activities to ensure your body gets all the essential nutrients it needs every day. You can’t go wrong with these healthy food choices as your body will remain in sound health all through the year.

2. Quit Smoking

You need to quit smoking if you want to improve your health in 2019. It may be easier said than done, but you need to be resolute and determined to quit smoking. You may have to seek help if you need an extra hand in quitting.

It may also not be possible for you to be able to stop smoking all at once, but you can start by cutting down gradually on the number of cigarettes you smoke per day. The journey of a thousand miles, they say, begins with a step.

3. Get Adequate Sleep Regularly

The importance of sleep cannot be overemphasized. You need to sleep well as it is essential for health. You need at least seven to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep for more vitality and rejuvenation.

Many people are plagued with sleep apnea and insomnia. If you belong to this category, seek medical help fast.

4. Go for Regular Body Checkups

Regular health checkups help you to not only prevent the encroachment of long-term diseases but also help you to understand your body better.

Therefore, create time to go for health checkups from time to time.

5. Cook with Olive or Canola Oil

Replace saturated fats – in dairy and meat – with unsaturated fats as this lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL). A lot of people get large amounts of polyunsaturated-rich soybean oil in prepared foods and restaurants (including salad dressing and mayonnaise).

So, when you go for olive oil or canola oil when cooking your meals, you will obtain an excellent mix of unsaturated fats.

6. Play well

Your emotional wellbeing is crucial; so, make time and play well to improve your overall happiness. Spend time with your kids or have fun at the amusement park in your city.

7. Engage in Regular Workouts

It is quite challenging to stick to regular workout schedule most of the time. You can bypass this problem by signing up to a fitness center or gym. You can go for customized individual exercise programs targeting strength training, muscle building, etc.

8. Drink More Water

Drink at least two glasses of water before every meal; this allows you to limit your food intake each time you eat. Your body also needs water to stay healthy.

9. Do away with Sweetened Beverages.

10. Practice intermittent fasting by limiting your eating to twelve hours during the day.
